Happy Fat Rodent Day!

And six more weeks of winter. If we're lucky.

I have to say that black English tea with sugar and milk is one of the best things ever. Especially when at work. Just makes me happy. |

| Capricon |
[Nov. 26th, 2007|03:34 pm] |
I’m planning on going to Capricon again in February 2008. This is going to be a little weekend away for me, however financially I’m not going to be able to afford it on my own. Is anyone interested in sharing a room with me?
I am planning on making this a 3-day weekend. It’s a fun con. Lots of people, costumes, and parties. OddCon has a room party there. Plus it’s Pirate themed this year. ARRR! |

| Lend me your ears... |
[Aug. 22nd, 2007|11:09 pm] |
I am interesed in getting some new music, and I'd like your advice.
I'm looking for stuff to get lost in. Punk, Pop, Electronic, Heavy, Classical, Folk, Clezmer, Blues, Whatever. If the album gets in your head, I'd like to hear about it.
The last few things I've picked up have been Evanescence, Bare Naked Ladies, Bowling for Soup, Weird Al, and Gogol Bordello. I really enjoy all of them. So let me know of a band, album, song, and I will go and check it out. |

| A Scanner Darkly |
[Jan. 17th, 2007|10:24 pm] |
B and I watched 'A Scanner Darkly.' We both really enjoyed it. The 'painted' look of the movie really conveys the surreal quality of the story. I really need to read some of Philip K. Dick's work. I love the stories that they turn into movies.
Robert Downey Jr. is also brilliant. A perfect paranoid psychotic. I think this is one of the only roles that I've really liked him in. |

| Capricon |
[Dec. 27th, 2006|02:04 pm] |
Is anyone going to Capricon?
I would like to go, but I can't afford to by myself. I'm either looking for someone to split a hotel with for Fri and Sat, or crash with a group that's already going. |

[Dec. 21st, 2006|06:36 pm] |
I need about 1-2 hours of help tonight at my house. Just a little assistance against the chaos. No heavy lifting.
Give me a call or post here.
Thanks. |

| A Series of Odd Events |
[Nov. 3rd, 2006|07:17 am] |
Well, I finally did it. I've been expecting this for quite some time now. And fortunately it wasn't that bad.
I finally poured baby formula on my granola.
Just a little, mind you. The rest of the soy milk that I usually put on covered up the taste, so the granola was still edible. I guess I've been expecting to put it in my coffee or tea. It was finally time, and it was the granola.
This also comes four days after I sliced my finger open on sugar.
I tried to wipe some of the residue from the top of one of our liqueurs bottles. Damn stuff cut me like broken glass. Blood welled right up from the jagged cut. I so did not expect that.
I'm better now. |

I always find it interesting when a character in a book or movie shares the same name as me. Nathan isn't used all that much, and if it is, the character is generally referred to by their last name. This one made me smile like a monkey.

This is now the third night in a row that I've fallen asleep before 10pm on the couch. I don't feel sick, but then again, sleep has always been the way I've kept the batteries charged and the bugs away. Time to get more. |

Stayed up late watching 'Top Chef' with techdragon. It was sooo good. And the food, my gods, the food.
So glad that the person who won, won.
Bravo does some good reality shows. Just enough drama, but getting people to not jut want the prize, but work for it. |

| Plum Wine |
[Sep. 2nd, 2006|09:19 am] |
So there is this plum tree in our neighbor's yard. Well kind of our neighbor. It's the tiny lot next to ours where the guy is always has a car, truck or boat for sale. I'm not sure if the lot is even attached to a house. Anyway there is this black plum tree that the first year that we were here had lots of plums, and I waited too long to ask if we could have said plums. So the next year we had no rain and no plums.
This year there were lots of plums. About 35 lbs of plums, but I'm getting ahead of myself. I had asked the car-guy if we could pick them the year prior, and he said yes. So last week, I got out a ladder, a picking basket that B has, and picked about 35 lbs. of plums.
I must give thanks to memeurgy for helping me cut and de-pit all of those plums in one evening. Thank you so much, it would have taken me two days to do them all. Looking at my recipe I realized that I had enough plums (after pitting) for about 8 gallons of plum wine. I made a 3 and 5 gallon batch.
( More on brewing plum wine ) The plum wine is going to have this great red color to it. And from the way is smells now, yeast aside, I think it's going to be really tasty. It will be ready to drink at the end of next summer, a year from now. This is the only part of brewing that I wish went faster... the waiting. But you do get some spectacular results when you do. |
